Emily McDaniel - IPCC #2

A large part of a pilgrimage is visiting places of cultural importance. Places where saints or religious people of the past had visions or spent most of their time are usually considered places of enlightenment. By visiting these places, people hope to be affected by the aura or atmosphere of the place and somehow perceive the same kind of sacred place that the people of the past had. Their hope is to better themselves spiritually, but it could also be to take in the history of their faith. Others could be hoping for a miracle if something similar had happened in that same spot. Most people go to these places with an open mind if they are there for religious reasons, and without this there would really be no reason to be there.
