Joe Conway Outside Reading #1
While doing research on trail magic for my research paper, i came across an article that i really enjoyed. The story was of a guy named Rick Towle who hosts a Maine hiker feed each year. The event occurs behind the Monsoon community center, one of the last stops before completion of the Appalachian Trail. This congregation gives the opportunity for hikers to gather one last time to share a meal and each others company before completing the trail and going their separate ways. I thought this was great because it gives the hikers a chance to have one last gathering with the people that have shared their experience before the final push. This form of trail magic can only come from someone who has experienced the Appalachian Trail and can know what its like.
