Emily McDaniel - IPCC #3

A pilgrimage is in the mind of the traveler. Technically, if you wanted, you wouldn’t have to travel halfway across the world to accomplish a successful pilgrimage. That tends to happen more often than not these days. People can’t afford the trip, so they settle for a miniature pilgrimage closer to home. For most, it’s become the Stations of the Cross. People can pray this as a remembrance of Jesus as a replacement for actually traveling the same path that Jesus did on his way to his crucifixion. Either that, or you can just pick a place closer to home and travel there and keep the main reason somewhere in your mind. After all, the entire reason for a pilgrimage is to bring spiritual and mental enlightenment. That doesn’t mean a physical trip is necessary.
