In the text, Turner discusses pilgrimages in the high middle ages and how they thrived at that time. It got me thinking to the differences between pilgrimages nowadays and back then. One of the big differences is technology, and the resources we have available to us compared to back then. There are many tools available now that can help you on your pilgrimage, whereas they did not have much to rely on back then. Another big difference is the impact of religion was much more important and accepted than it is today. More and more people have become skeptical towards religion and pilgrimages, as compared to the influence it had on most people back in the middle ages.
