Liz Cathey: Personal Choice 3

When I began to research this topic of religion manifesting itself in nature, I had no idea I would find such a varied and diverse batch of results. In the article “On the Geography of Religion” by Gregory J. Levine, the fact that those who study geography hardly ever take into consideration religion as a subfield of an area’s culture is addressed.  It is heavily discussed how these geographers should take note how greatly the area, like it’s abundance or lack of untouched nature, affects how it’s inhabitants address religion accordingly.  The article continues on to discuss how even those who have studied this aspect of religion have not suggested ways as to go about guiding geographers and challenges them to do so. As it turns out, people find religion in all different types of nature, no matter how commonplace or off-the-beaten-track they may seem.
