With my final free response journal I want to talk about how
it would seem that people are too obsessed with their day to day lives to take
some time out to venture into the wilderness or at least nature of some
kind. So often today we as a culture
ignore or are simply ignorant of the world around us outside. My observation is that we have become so obsessed
with the goal or destination that we forget about the journey. This rinse and repeat style of living
discourages and even prevents straying from the mold. Without the journeys in life though many
people would simply argue that the destination isn’t worth it and this is true
when wilderness is concerned. Exploration both introspectively and of the world
around is a key part of learning and one of the best places to do this in in
the wilderness. As a people we have to
turn the computer off, put down the remote, and get outside for a bit every day
and not simply for exercise but for self discovery as well.
