Joe Conway Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture Post #1
While discussing pilgrimages and their place in history, Turner brings up the fact that pilgrimages have been surprisingly neglected by historians and social scientists. This made me wonder why, and i believe that it is mostly because the affects of a pilgrimage and its impact occur on a very personal level, one that is hard to study or observe. I think that in order to research or document the affects of a pilgrimage, one has to undergo the process themselves instead of trying to figure it out through someone else's experience.
