Jordan Snider-Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture Liminality
Liminality was probably my favorite term discussed this semester. Turner described liminality as "the state and process of mid-transition in a right of passage" (249) I liked this term because it was a feeling that I've felt and experienced before, but just didn't know quite how to describe it. Because I found this term so interesting, I decided to write my research paper on it to see how the term was relevant to other people lives. In Mecca, Muslims who made the pilgrimage and performed the Hajj said it was life changing for some of them and in some cases was even a tearing experience. I think it's very cool that the state of in between can have such a large impact on someones life.
