In class we touched on the topic of myths and what a myth is, and I just wanted to draw some parallels between what we like to call Ancient Greek Mythology and modern religions today. I've always been intrigued by the various mythological stories told by the Greeks and Romans and the more I read about it the more interesting it is to me that we regard it today as something silly to actually believe in. However, if you take the time to analyze it a little you could draw some connections between what is acceptable as a belief today (Christianity) and what was once acceptable but now seems ridiculous (Mythology). Christians believe in one God. Zeus was the god of all the gods (akin to God). Christians also believe in saints & angels which are akin to ancient mythologies' heroes and demi-gods. Ancient Greeks also built temples to worship their gods in and today we have Churches and various places of worship for our religions. I can't go too much further in depth since I haven't taken the time to do all the research that would be required for this type of thorough analyzation, but given the right about of critiquing, there are several similarities that can be drawn out from these two different beliefs.
