I read Don’t Wait & Firecracker’s 2012 Trail Journal which is still a work in progress. They are a couple from Ohio that are currently hiking the AT. Their last entry was April 18th, 2012 and they plan to be hiking all summer. So far, the couple has talked about how beautiful the sites are. Firecracker talked about how walking along and seeing the sites has caused her to think of all of her loved ones. She said that she has thought about so many people that have been in her life, be it small are large. Also, they talked about how they came across some Trail Angels. There were two ladies sitting with the tail of their truck open with goodies for hikers. Firecracker and Don’t wait sat there for a while enjoying the refreshments and talking to other hikers. I cannot imagine how much something as simple as a small bit of food could give a hiker that little boost of energy to continue hiking. I plan on checking Don’t Wait & Firecracker’s journal all summer just to keep up with their journey.
