Hunter Bronder: individual and space

Lane shares something from Gabriel Marcel, “An individual is not distinct from his place; he is that place.” To me this is saying that we are do not belong to a place but are a piece of the place as a whole. However, what happens when a person changes place? When I was younger I moved from a rural place to an urban area and at first I was definitely distinct from that place. Over time I grew accustom to the new area and would possibly then say I was that place. This left me wondering if Lane meant once you have been somewhere for a while you are that place or if he believes someone instantly takes becomes part of a place.
