Jackie Bond- The Hunger Games
In the book The Hunger Games that I recently read, there is an example of a sacred place that is made sacred by the rituals that take place there. In the book, one of the main characters, Rue, dies a sad unfair death in the woods. Katniss then takes her body and lays it down nicely in the grass. She then went and collected a ton of Rue's favorite flowers and brought them back to her body and placed them around her body and decorated her to look peaceful and beautiful. This act pays dues to the dead and respects Rue. It also makes the place of her death a sacred place for the rest of the book.
