From the article, Is 'green' religion the solution to the ecological crisis? A case study of mainstream religion in Australia (2008).
The current global ecology crisis is fast becoming one of our biggest concerns. Incorporating "green" practices into a religious event could possibly be the solution we are in desperate need. A large majority of the world consider themselves religious and a lot of religious organizations control large amounts of land and infrastructure. Viewing this ecological crisis as a moral degradation shows how relating environmentalism to religion can do nothing but help the current problem. Showing people that destroying the environment is something bad and socially unacceptable can help stop the ongoing pollution and turn people into green machines who are fighting to renew the environment.
