Kristin Melton-- Outside Reading
While reading The Hunger Games, I gained a better understanding of what it means to be in a sacred place. The main character has spent many years in the woods and understand the cues that it gives, such as when an animal is near by or determining which way the wind is blowing. When they enter the arena, she uses her skills to protect herself from enemies. I know this isn't exactly the same as sacred place, but the understanding that she has of her surroundings is a good parallel to being at a sacred place or actually being in one. Being able to feel the surroundings and understand what they are telling you versus being present in a location.
