Communitas is said to be a social anti-structure according to Victor Turner.  Communitas is known as a anti-social structure because the idea behind communitas is that it is the unity of people without a hierarchical system; a structure system without a structure.  There is no class system when there is communitas.  Where you came from, what your religious preference is, or how much money you make, doesn't matter according to communitas.  It is "an essential and genetic human bond" (V. Turner 96, 97).
