"Sacred place can be tread upon without being entered." The third axiom in Lanes book is one that I personally find very interesting. It is interesting in that sacred place is not somewhere that just everyone can go and experience. Many people tread upon sacred space all the time but do not necessarily enter into that sacred place. This is interesting because if there is a place that an individual considers sacred, many other people probably tread on that space but don't experience the sacredness of it as the first individual. A good example of this would be all of the land that Native Americans considered sacred, that settlers saw as just land, and were not able to experience.
