Courtney Pauls- Lane's Third Axiom

Lane’s third axiom is that “sacred place can be tred upon without being entered”. This is my favorite axiom because it pretty much means that each person is different and everyone has places that are sacred to them. Dr. Redick let us listen to Brian Wilson’s song “In My Room” where Brian talks about how his room is sacred to him. Personally, Brian Wilson’s room is not sacred to me nor is my own room. I like being in my room, but I would not call it sacred. Two people could be walking down a trail and come to a bend in the path. One of the people could see the place as sacred and experience that site as nouminal. The other person could just view that site as a normal bend in some road. Person number two would be treading on a sacred place, but not entering it.
