In this chapter, Lane discusses "The Mountain that was God". A monstrous natural occurrence is an example of how God reveals himself on Earth and is a "mask of God". God's almighty power is shown in the power and magnificence of the huge mountain. He has also revealed himself through the centuries in such a manner. I believe that this is even more reason for us to pay closer attention to the beauty around us. God's beautiful world is all around us and we all too often take it for granted. Perhaps if we sat back and listened to nature, we could hear God more clearly speaking to us. Taking a trip into the wilderness and witnessing a "mask of God"with our own eyes is spiritually beneficial to us all.
