While walking on the Noland Trail alone, I experienced nature first hand. Being separated from others helps to focus on the atmosphere around oneself. When I focused on the beauty around me, the birds seemed clearer, the air fresher, and the breeze even more relaxing. The gentle rustling of leaves were like whispered wind chimes. It seems that all too often we forget how beautiful our world really is because we are too busy rushing through it. If we took even just an hour a week to breathe in nature and leave the rush of society behind, it could be very relaxing and could help prevent the onset of stress. Particularly when the weather is beautiful I am able to absorb the relaxing vibes that a natural setting emits. If I simply. listen the the rustle of the trees in the wind, stop to smell the flowers or watch the still waters of the lake, I can better understand and appreciate our beautiful world. The Noland Trail is our own little patch of nature in an overdeveloped society. I would love to more often take the time to enjoy it.
