Hunter Bronder: Trail magic

Ron Fishers book Mountain Adventures is filled with pictures from the AT. Many of the pictures include man made brides constructed from logs that have fallen. In some cases the bridges look necessary but in others, it looks like the hike could have been made without them. This seems to be similar to trail magic because it is a man made thing that helps a hiker. Trail magic is usually food and some hikers don’t like trail magic because they feel like it takes away from the experience. I think that by using these bridges or walkways in areas where they aren’t needed also take away from the experience. To me a hiker should avoid using these bridges if possible to eliminate as many man made things from their hike as possible.
