Jackie Bond- Image and Pilgrimage 2

One new term we came across in class was the term "flow". Before this class when I heard the term "flow" it made me think of a river or long hair. But according to the book, flow is when action and awareness merge and the person now has the ability to experience joy. However in order to experience this flow, one must completely commit to whatever action they are doing and completely involve themselves with it. It must become almost mindless so that there is no thought behind your action. However here is the trick: if you become aware that you are experiencing the flow, then the flow is interrupted and you loose it. This is what makes flow such a cool thing, because you are completely unaware of it until after it happens. In pilgrimage, many people experience flow because they are so consumed with the task of the pilgrimage that they loose sight of anything but that travel.
