Jackie Bond- Image and Pilgrimage 1

One interesting topic addressed in Turner's Image and Pilgrimage book is the idea of a pilgrimage being a liminoid phenomenon. This is the idea that when one makes a pilgrimage, it acts as an escape from every day activities and routines. This allows them to travel through a plane into the spiritual world and still stay connected with reality. They all have one common goal on a pilgrimage, and that is to get to their main goal. This unites them all in a spiritual way. However I have a lot of questions about this concept. Does this really happen to everyone? Does everyone experience the spirituality and liminality of the pilgrimage? Or do some people not fully engage in it?
