Jordan Snider-Communitas

   During this course, I found the term Communitas to be very interesting yet confusing until Professor Redick described his experience on the Applachian Trail. His experience really helped explain what communitas was all about. People from all over the world came to the trail to hike it and enjoy doing it with a variety of people. They were of different genders, ages, and ethnicities and yet all still had the same goal in mind. They hiked the Appalachian Trail with each other and all enjoyed each others company. There are no cliques, but instead people are able to bond with each other even though they came from different backgrounds. I find that so cool and interesting about the Appalachian Trail. All in all, Professor Redicks experience really helped get rid of the confusion I had between the difference of communitas and a community.
