The rite of passage is a very important part of any pilgrimage. It is the challenge within the challenge of partaking in the pilgrimage. It is the period of growth along the trail in which you develop as an adult or better person. Rites of passage are not only found on a pilgrimage, but in every aspect of our lives as well. During your first job, you don't know anyone you're working with (separation), once you begin to get better at the tasks you must perform, you truly create an identity within the workplace. This identity helps you determine whether or not this place can become a career, and you work harder to achieve it. Finally, a promotion can be seen as the rite of passage into becoming an (insert job title here).
