Keely Johnson: TheChive
Beginning around May of last year, I began to visit a website called thechive.com. At first it was just a way to pass time and every once in a while there would be a blog post that I found really cool or extremely heart felt. As time went on, I began to realize that TheChive wasn't just a website, but an online community that actually interacted with each other in the real world. After I bought a shirt and started to identify myself as a chiver in public, I finally made my way into this loving and supportive community. Nothing feels greater than hearing a "Chive On" from my fellow chivers when I'm out to dinner, or at an aquarium in another state, walking the streets of D.C., or just strolling through the grocery store. The Chive community helps raise awareness for charities, achieve financial support for families in need, and provides daily entertainment and stress relief. The feeling of communitas is great and far-reaching.
