Nicolas Maxim: Choice: Teen Center

This semester I began to volunteer at the teen center for PLP community service hours. When arriving I was a "nobody" who did not know anyone. I was very much apart and separated from the group. After volunteering there once a week I eventually became accepted by the group and was able to open up to them. I told them many life stories that made me the person I am today. While this was not an example of communitas or liminality, it was definitely an example of how I had to conform to the community that was already set up. It was a great experience for me because I was transformed into a better person throughout the process.
