Landscapes of the Sacred Post #5 - Matt Marquand
The third approach is the phenomenological
approach, urges to take into account the landscape of the place itself. It encourages the appreciation of the land
itself. The beach is my favorite example of this approach. The waves crashing onto the shore and the tide going back into the ocean is majestic. The place itself makes it sacred, the landscape and scenery. I could sit and watch the beach all day long, just relaxing and enjoying the rare experiance. Another example of this is the Grand Canyon, the deep valley awes thousands of tourists every year. This approach encourages the appreciation of the physical space.
