Richard Robertson Pilgrimage 1

Pilgrimage as a Liminoid Place

Reading this section brought to mind my life as a college student. Going deeper into thought and beginning to relate the parts of pilgrimage to years of college I began to realize how liminal this place truly is.Turner describes separation, limen, and aggregation as the three step to complete a rite of transition. These have directly related to my life as a college student. I have separated myself from the space of my childhood. Moving to a new, unknown place in the world. I entered with no status, a blank sheet, an unformed block. Not knowing how I will come out of this process and at the same time unable  to retreat. The is no room to retreat, returning to the safety of childhood. I have yet to complete my journey through this liminal state of college. With this I can not give a personal story of my aggregation because it has yet to occur. I hope to return and edit this blog post when that time does come. At that point I will truly be able to reflect on the purpose steps and affects of everything I have done.
