This book discusses modern communication and transportation and how it has an affect on pilgrimages. When I went camping, I was not allowed to bring my cell-phone. Although I wouldn't have been able to get service, my family and friends wanted to just connect with the people who were there. They didn't see the point of even going camping if you would not disconnect from the world to connect with the nature around you. I didn't really appreciate this at first, but after the trip I found that I really enjoyed myself. If I would have used my phone I would not have been able to connect deeply with nature and experience the feelings that I did.
